Navigating Open Play Etiquette at The Pickle Lodge

Open Play at The Lodge: A Space for Every Skill Level

At The Pickle Lodge, our Open Play sessions are a cornerstone of our community, offering a vibrant space for pickleball players of varying skill levels. We have tailored our sessions to cater to different groups: beginners, 3.0 to 3.5 level players, 3.75 level players, and verified 4.0+ players. This structure ensures that everyone, regardless of their experience, finds a comfortable and competitive playing environment.

Knowing Your Courts

To ensure a smooth experience, we allocate a specific number of courts for each Open Play session. You can easily confirm which courts are designated for your session either through the CourtReserve app or by checking the display screens upon entering our facility. This organization helps in maintaining an orderly flow and guarantees that players are matched with the appropriate level of competition.

Paddle Racks: The Key to Fair Play

Recognizing that there may be more players registered than the courts can accommodate at one time, we have an efficient system in place. Paddle racks are provided to keep track of who’s next in line. This system is not just about managing turns; it’s about fairness and respect for all participants.

The Etiquette of Winning & Losing

In Open Play, winning comes with a specific etiquette. If you win a game with your partner, you both stay on the court but split up for the next game. This allows for a mix of partnerships and keeps the play dynamic and fair. Conversely, if you and your partner lose a game, both of you leave the court to make way for the next players. This rotation ensures everyone gets their fair share of playtime.

The Two-Game Rule

A crucial aspect of our Open Play etiquette is the two-game rule: no player can stay and play more than two consecutive games on the same court. This policy prevents monopolization of playtime and encourages a more inclusive environment where everyone gets a chance to participate.

Open Play at The Pickle Lodge is more than just a series of games; it’s an opportunity for community, growth, and fair competition. By adhering to these etiquette guidelines, we ensure that each session is enjoyable, equitable, and in the true spirit of pickleball. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned player, these rules help maintain a respectful and engaging environment for all. So, grab your paddle, and let’s make every Open Play session a memorable one!
